Michael
As you've been told by so many, this is the best Doo Wop site in the entire Universe. The time, effort, love, creativity and dedication is unequaled.
As you know we share the same love and dedication to this music. When the guys in the biz say "Thanx for keeping the music Alive" sometimes it just rolls off of their tongues in Passing. I would like to say to you from the Bottom of Mine and so Many Hearts. Michael P. THANK YOU FOR KEEPING THE MUSIC ALIVE in real time. Humble thanx for putting my songs on your site. It is so so much appreciated

I remember speaking with Tony many times on the east coast about booking my act. We could never get together. I am truly sorry to hear he has made his transition. Please accept my condolences.
I worked with Gladys Hortons Marvelettes in the late 80's and early ninties. We performed with Donnie Brooks 30 years of Rock and Roll and for the Doowoop society in Los Angeles. I have toured all of the United States with Gladys and toured around Canada with Donnie Brooks. I am presently doing shows around the United States and Still Looking for Work! I have Karen Evans with my group. She was a Raylette for 10 year up untill Ray Charles Died. Karen has shared half a year with me and freelancing when Ray was not on the road during her tenure with Ray Charles. The other singer in the Marvelettes Revue is Lyssa Diaz. She has toured with her brother performing around the United States promoting his Album. His name is Darryl Diaz and is the Pianist for Dancing with the Stars Tour this year and last year. Our show the Marvelettes Revue is a Excellent Show. You can look at video at www.pamdarden.com. There are pictures of myself with Gladys Horton's Marvelettes as well. I look forward to hearing from you with possibilities of booking in the near future.
Warmest Regards,
Pam Darden

Grew up in Queens NYC in the mid 50's,
later moved to the DC area in 1957.It was a very difficult time for me, a real New Yorker attending a segregated high school and having to listen to rockabilly music?
Where are my Heartbeats, Caddilacs, Crests
Eldorados, Moonglows, Harptones, I just couldn't cope without them...
Thank G-d for Doo-Wop music. |

Hi,
Have been looking at your site for a number of years. As everyone says it's the best on the internet. Just great music. This is more of a begging request, can you add tunes from The Sensations aka Yvonne Baker (nee Mills) & The Sensations. Especially their first lot of recordings from the 50's. Almost impossible to find anywhere certainly on this side of the pond. Or are you restricted by those stupid laws of record companys who keep the tracks but never release them. If you can put them on your site it would help to stop those putting out their music as The Sensations with Sue Thompson who never sang with them. Could write you a book on how important this music is just in the context of the history of popular music. But will get off my high horse and close now. |

What a wonderful site.... my father passed on April 1st, 2008, and I was searching for his album the GENIE by the Inpirations.
Here it was on this site.. I enjoyed the trip down memory lane.
We too missed Don K. Reed and CBS, I remember dads interview with him.
Doo Wop music will live on in our hearts always.
Great site... thanks for the link. |

Hi Mike,
Your site is fantastic! The heck with merely taking a walk down memory lane, I want to live here. I have listened to songs that I have not heard in decades (so much for commercial radio). Being from the Chicago area, I am naturally most interested in the Chicago doo-wop groups. I noticed that a song from The Four Buddies ("You Left Me Blue") has several flaws that appear to be computer-generated glitches rather than vinyl anomalies. Is there any way that you can rectify the problem? Thanks!
Long live doo-wop, and the memory and contributions of Ronnie I.

Hi Sal & Brenda,
I grew up in Rahway, NJ. I was a huge fan of doo-wop and had a record collection comprised of mostly groups. I do remember The Plurals and their many great songs. My particular favorite was and still is "Goodnight". Were you and original member? Where were you guys from? I believe you recorded some tracks in Elizabeth..correct?

Mike, your site and songs are great. Everyone has noticed that many of the songs can not be listened too. Is there anything all your listeners can do to help you get the entire site back up. Please let us know. All would like to see your song list expanded. P.S. All you devoted listeners support this site with the purchase of a mug or other item. I did and my entire office knows it. Thanks, Chuck |

I just learned of Ronnie's passing! I used to be a member of the UGHA when I was still living in Connecticut. I was a fairly regular visitor to UGHA shows and while attending met many wonderful people as well as the members of the varied acts themselves. Ronnie made this all possible and I as well as many others aplaud his efforts and also his love for the genre! May he rest in heaven among all his contemporaries who preceded him. |

Text: I was at a number of yoru shows in the garden in the mid 70's one in particular when it was chuck berry's birthday. If PBS can put together some great doo wop shows, i know u can do it better and bigger, your shows got me into collecting and i now have over 15,000 doo wop songs. Please consider a huge show at the garden again.

I do believe it was early in 1956 and where I lived it was only the Pat Boone version of "I'll Be Home" that I hade ever heard..that was untill the early summer when the New York Radio station
WINS would come in clearly.
It was then that I first heard The Flamingos " I'll Be Home" and it was truly remarkable. The Multiple harmony. double repeats and the urgency of the tones were unique.
This along with the slight echoe and the narrations made this a classic and rendered the rather bland "other " version absurd,,frankly.
Since that day I acquired all the original vinyl albums and of course the cd,s of their songs A fan for 50 years now ..the best

Rest in Peace Ronnie. I found this site today, 3/15/08, and was greatly moved by a number of the signees of this guest book. I remember some of you and your groups as I grew up in the 1950's in East Orange, NJ.
Any one remember the Plurals["Donna My Dear", "Miss Annie", and "I'm Sold"]. When I done writing this I am going to search them on this site since we did like listening to them back when. Email us if you remember the Plurals. God Bless and Happy Easter all.

Just found your site today. Great songs. I was interested in finding a song called "I still Care", but I can't remember what group sang it back in 50's. The version you have is not the one. I was pleasantly surprised to see some very obscure songs such a "why don't you write me" by the Jacks, which I have. I would like to email you a song that I have called "Dear One" by the Scarlets. Beautiful rendition. The Scarlets later became the Five Satins of "In the Still of the Night" fame. If you are interested in this song, please email me with your email address. Ron |
